π§ Independent English
A complete, self-paced B1 Intermediate English course β the level where you stop translating and start expressing yourself. Twenty-four real lessons take you into perfect and narrative tenses, conditionals, reported speech, relative clauses, the passive voice, precision structures, real-world communication, and the language of opinions and discussion.
π About This Course
This is real language study that builds directly on A2. If you can already talk about the past and future and hold a simple conversation, you're ready to become independent: to handle most everyday and travel situations, explain and justify your opinions, and tell longer, more connected stories.
It follows the CEFR B1 ("Threshold") level: the point at which you can deal with most situations while traveling, produce connected text on familiar topics, and describe experiences, events, dreams, and ambitions.
What You'll Be Able to Do
- Choose confidently between the perfect and past tenses
- Talk about real and imaginary situations with conditionals
- Report what other people said, asked, and told you to do
- Connect ideas with relative clauses (the man whoβ¦, the place whereβ¦)
- Use the passive voice to focus on actions and processes
- Make deductions and talk about probability (it must be, it can't be)
- Give, support, and discuss opinions in a natural way
- Tell rich stories with narrative tenses, including the past perfect
- Use articles, gerunds & infinitives, and degree words with precision
- Handle real situations β complaints, job interviews, and lively discussions
- Sound natural with question tags and everyday phrasal verbs
Who This Course Is For
- Self-study learners who have finished A2 and want to reach a confident, conversational, independent level
- Classroom students β every lesson has speaking and discussion tasks that work in pairs or groups
- Teachers looking for a ready-made, sequenced B1 syllabus
π‘ Coming from lower down? Build up first
B1 assumes solid A2 grammar (past simple, comparatives, the future, the present perfect for experiences). If any of that feels shaky, spend time with Everyday English (A2) β or start right at the beginning with English Foundations (A1) β and come back.
π The 24 Lessons
Work through the lessons in order β each one builds on the last. Modules 1β4 build your grammatical core; Modules 5β8 take you into narrative tenses, precision structures, real-world communication, and natural, fluent speech.

π§ How to Study This Course
- One lesson at a time, in order. B1 grammar interlocks β later lessons assume earlier ones.
- Speak out loud, and at length. B1 is about connected speech β aim for a few sentences in a row, not single answers.
- Do the project. Each lesson ends with a real speaking or discussion task β that's where fluency grows.
- Keep the journal. At B1, use it to notice why you chose a structure, not just what it was.
- Feed your English. Start reading and watching real English (news, shows, podcasts) β B1 is the level where that pays off fast.
π§ A word before you begin
B1 is the "messy middle" of language learning β the exciting, sometimes frustrating stretch where you can say a lot but not yet everything. That gap is not a wall; it's the runway. Every structure in this course is a tool for closing it. Add the word yet to your doubts, and let's build. π±
